Training Info.
Here at Windfall Ranch, we use training techniques that we have learned through our years of riding, as well as Clinton Anderson methods; adjusting our approach to each horse's individual needs. We also believe in training the rider as well as the horse, to make a winning team there are times that both need a little training. We offer free lessons to the owners of the horses we train, so they can see their horse's progress first hand and voice any questions/concerns/comments they may have. We specialize in Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Gymkhana, Rodeo, Jumping, Trail riding, Halter classes, and Bridle less riding, and have experience in starting Reining, Cutting, and Pleasure horses. Training from the ground up starts at $700 per month per horse, so long as you provide hay, and $20 per ride for touch-up work. We do touch ups on all horses, no matter the discipline. Note: Touch up rides are for horses that are broke and just need miles put on them, when we train we start from the ground up!
When training horses we start with their groundwork, without a good foundation you can't expect to have a good horse, we work on desensitizing as well as evenly sensitizing resulting in a soft, supple, responsive, and respectful horse. Once the groundwork is complete we prepare them for a saddle, back them a few times, take their first couples rides in the round-pen before taking them out on the trail. We work on lowering their head, rating their gaits, get them crossing water and bridges, gaining their confidence around "scary" things (traffic, tarps, etc.) and finishing them for trail, conditioning, or patterning for events.
Training includes:
Owners are more than welcome to watch or video tape any training session, or be involved in the training process!
Other Services-
Trailer Loading- $75 per session
Halter Breaking- $25 per session
Standing for farrier- $40 per session
